Job Summary
The SAP Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) Consultant is responsible for the implementation,configuration, and ongoing support of the SAP PPM module. This role involvescollaborating closely with business stakeholders to understand portfoliogovernance and project management requirements, and translating these needsinto effective SAP PPM solutions integrated with SAP S/4HANA. The Consultantwill ensure optimal alignment of project portfolios with enterprise strategy,support real-time performance monitoring, and drive continuous improvementsacross idea management, project planning, execution, and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Implementation and Configuration • Conduct workshops to gather and understand PPM requirements. • Configure and support the SAP PPM module in line with project and business requirements. • Implement and maintain integrations between SAP PPM and SAP S/4HANA, ensuring live, enterprise-wide data availability. Portfolio and Idea Management • Configure and manage Idea Management processes within SAP PPM. • Support portfolio management functions, including ranking, scoring, and alignment of proposed projects with business goals and enterprise strategy. • Enable digital boardroom capabilities for portfolio oversight, including idea and portfolio management dashboards. Project Planning and Execution • Support end-to-end project management processes, covering: · Project planning and scheduling of tasks and deliverables · Planning project efforts and costs · Authorization and phase approvals · Progress and time recording · Progress tracking and Plan vs. Actual analysis · Real-time performance monitoring of active projects Reporting and Analytics • Support SAP Digital Boardroom capabilities including consolidation and drill-down of input and output data, drag-and-drop functionality, and geo-map visualisations. • Provide stakeholders with real-time project performance insights and portfolio-level reporting. Support and Troubleshooting • Provide ongoing support for the SAP PPM module, including issue resolution, system analysis, and timely delivery of solutions to minimize business disruptions.
Documentation • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, process designs, enhancements, and end-user training materials.
Testing and Validation • Execute system testing and validation to ensure configurations, enhancements, and interfaces work as intended. • Facilitate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure business requirements are met.
Training of Junior Consultants • Mentor and support Junior Team members in SAP PPM to build internal capability and ensure knowledge transfer within the team.
Qualifications
Education • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certifications • SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) • SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP PPM on S/4HANA (advantageous) • Project Management certifications (advantageous) • Experience in managing budgets, margins, change requests, financial risks, and commercial controls is required. • Experience in maintaining detailed project plans, risk registers, issue logs, dependency logs, and executive reporting packs is required. • Experience in environments where documentation quality, audit readiness, and contract compliance matter is strongly preferred. • Experience in SAP, ERP, digital transformation, or enterprise application implementation projects is highly advantageous. • Experience in public sector or governance-intensive client environments is highly advantageous.

Experience
• Proven experience as an SAP PPM Consultant, with a strong track record of successful SAP PPM implementations, configurations, and post-go-live support. • Hands-on experience with end-to-end SAP PPM processes, including idea management, portfolio planning, project scheduling, effort and cost planning, phase-gate approvals and portfolio monitoring. • Preferable experience in SAP S/4HANA PPM implementations, upgrades, or system conversions, including exposure in SAC (SAP Digital Boardrooms). • Experience integrating SAP solutions with third-party systems and external applications. • Experience integrating SAP PPM with other SAP S/4HANA modules (PS, FI, CO and MM).
Knowledge & Skills Required
Technical Skills • Strong knowledge of SAP PPM module configuration, customisation, and business process alignment, including portfolio structures, buckets, items, and initiatives. • Demonstrated expertise in configuring portfolio reviews, decision points, workflows, and version control within SAP PPM. • Solid understanding of SAC (SAP Digital Boardrooms), including consolidation, drill-down, drag-and-drop, and geo-map capabilities. • Working knowledge of PPM reporting tools, including dashboards, traffic light functions, reporting cockpits, and cross-portfolio query-based analyses. • Solid cross-functional integration knowledge with related modules such as PS, FI, CO and MM. • Exposure to SAP ABAP for technical debugging or minor enhancements is optional but advantageous.
