The second largest city in KwaZulu-Natal, falls within the boundaries of Case Study 5 municipality. The city is both the administrative and legislative capital of the province, which boosts investor confidence, resulting in the city’s economy growing at an astounding rate. To enable the growth and assist the management of the municipality a SAP ERP project was initiated. This project ran in two phases. Phase 1 was the implementation of the Core ERP modules and Phase 2 was the implementation of the ISU modules.
•The Core ERP modules went live successfully and went into a run phase.
•However the Phase 2 IS-U module go-live dates were continuously missed and the city was running low on budget and was losing confidence with its stakeholders in completing the project.
•The City needed to get back on track urgently, and needed to assess whether the solution could be partially deployed whilst the remaining issues were being resolved.
They also needed a gap analysis in their solution and they lost confidence in the solution provided and obtain are commendation on how to move forward with their ISU solution.
Zimele was appointed to provide the city with:
•Compiling a comprehensive quality assessment report
•Provided a list of enhancements /improvements and gaps on the current solution
•Recommendation on how to move forward with the ISU solution
•Based on the recommendation and SME assistance that Zimele provided the client the project was successfully deployed 2 months later.
•The client also decided to keep the Zimele resources on board for the post go-live support which is currently in progress.
•Zimele was also requested to conduct refresher training to business users on the ISU solution.
